Sift ("we", "us", "the extension") is a Chrome extension that automatically finds and applies coupon codes at supported checkout pages. This page describes what data the extension collects, how it is used, and your choices as a user.

Data we collect

• Install ID: A random string stored in chrome.storage.local on install. Used only to attribute referral credit and avoid double-counting installs. You can clear it at any time by uninstalling.
• Current checkout domain: The hostname of the page you are on when Sift runs coupon matching (e.g. shopify.com). Used solely to look up applicable coupon codes for that store. The full URL, page contents, and form values are not collected or transmitted.
• Coupon test results: Whether a tested coupon code succeeded, failed, or was inconclusive on a given retailer. Stored to rank codes by success rate so future users get the best code first.

What we do not collect

• Personal information (name, email, address) beyond what you enter into the merchant's own checkout.
• The contents of any form you submit, including payment details — those stay on the merchant site.
• Browsing history off supported checkout pages. Sift's content script is inactive away from cart and checkout pages.

How the data is used

The install ID, current checkout domain, and aggregate success counts are used exclusively to: (1) match you to coupon codes that work at the store you are checking out at, (2) rank those codes by how often they succeed, and (3) attribute referral credit when you installed via a friend's link.

Retention

No personal data is retained beyond the install ID stored in your browser. Coupon success counts are aggregate statistics — they contain no link back to a specific user or session.

Third parties

Sift does not sell, rent, or share user data. Coupon matching may use an OpenAI-backed scoring endpoint; only the retailer domain and candidate code text are sent for scoring, never page contents or identifying information.
